
Mr. Vocelle is the founding and senior partner of Vocelle & Berg, LLP. His family has been on the Treasure Coast of Florida since 1924. His grandfather was one of the founders of Indian River County and his father was Chief Judge of the 19th Judicial Circuit of Florida until his death in 1996.
A lifelong resident of Indian River County, Florida, Mr. Vocelle received his Bachelors Degree from Wake Forest University in Winston Salem, North Carolina and his law degree (J.D.) with honors, from the Florida State University College of Law in 1982. While in law school, Mr. Vocelle was honored to have been awarded an internship with Justice Ben Overton of the Florida Supreme Court, served as an award winning member of the Appellate Moot Court Team and was inducted into the Order of Barristers in recognition of his advocacy skills.
Mr. Vocelle has achieved the rare distinction of being double Board Certified by the Florida Bar as a specialist in both Civil Trial Law and Business Trial Law (Board Certification is the highest level of recognition by the Florida Bar of the competency and experience of attorneys in a specialized area of law). He is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell (the highest rating that one can achieve from other lawyers and judges through a prestigious peer review organization). He has served on the Board of Governors of the Florida Bar, was Chairman of the Professional Ethics Committee of the Florida Bar, has served and chaired Florida Bar Grievance Committees, chaired the Judicial Nominating Committee for the 19th Judicial Circuit, and in 2001 was selected as one of six finalists interviewed by the White House for a newly created Federal Judgeship in the Southern District of Florida. He is the past chair of The Board of Legal Education and Specialization of the Florida Bar (BLSE) which regulates and oversees all of the Board Certified Lawyers in Florida and was honored to have served as its counsel.
Mr. Vocelle is honored to have been invited in and selected as a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, (One the most prestigious groups of the top trial lawyers in the United States limited to attorneys who have won million and multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements. Fewer than 1% of U.S. lawyers are members). the American Board of Trial Advocates, SuperLawyers of Florida (The Super Lawyers designation is based upon the results of independent research performed by Law & Politics, including peer review and professional achievement. Only five percent of Florida lawyers are named Super Lawyers) and, most recently, Florida Trend's 2009 Legal Elite, consisting of less than 2% of Florida Lawyers.
Mr. Vocelle is admitted to practice in all Florida State Courts, the United States Supreme Court, the United States Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals, and the United States District Courts for the Southern and Middle Districts of Florida. He has been invited to speak on trial skills and tactics at legal seminars in the United States, Mexico and England. He has handled thousands of cases for his clients including wrongful death, brain injury, near drowning, product liability, automobile and motorcycle crashes, business fraud, shareholder derivative actions, breach of contract, construction defects, libel and slander, civil conspiracy, malicious prosecution, insurance disputes and many other civil disputes.
Mr. Vocelle is actively involved in his community where he has served on the local Community College Foundation’s board of directors, as a member of Rotary International, acted as an assistant Boy Scout troop leader, served as an EMT and later as president of the Board of Directors of the Indian River County Volunteer Ambulance Squad, and served on many other community boards. Mr. Vocelle is an avid motorcyclist and instrument rated pilot. He is married and has two children.
Mr. Vocelle has represented thousands of clients in his career and has recovered for them millions of dollars in verdicts and settlements.
